Overview
VRCORE Education is expanding its ground-breaking virtual reality experiences, and we need a talented 3D Artist/Modeller student or recent graduate with expertise in Blender or other 3D design software, as well as experience with Unity game engine. Help us bring the International Space Station (ISS) to life in the virtual world! You’ll play a critical role in creating/adapting immersive 3D assets of the ISS and other key environments and objects in the space exploration industry, allowing students and educators to learn about space exploration in a fully interactive environment.
Responsibilities
- Design/Adapt 3D models and environments in the category of space exploration and technology including but not limited to: ISS, Kennedy Space Center, Johnson Space Center, and SpaceX rockets.
- Work closely with the content development team to ensure seamless integration of ISS assets into our Unity-based VR platform.
- Create and optimize .fbx models for real-time rendering in Unity to provide smooth, high-quality experiences in Android mobile virtual reality (Vive Focus 3 and Quest 3)
- Collaborate with educators and subject matter experts to ensure that the assets align with educational objectives and are scientifically accurate.
- Contribute to the overall creative vision of our space-related educational experiences, from initial concept through to implementation.
- Utilize the latest tools in 3D modelling and rendering, including AI generated/optimized textures and models.
- Periodic availability for on-site testing of assets in our free-roam VR platform.
Qualifications
- Applicant must be enrolled in, or recently graduated within the last year at an Alberta post-secondary institution
- Applicant must be within reasonable travel distance to our test locations in Calgary, Alberta
- Proficiency in 3D design software such as Blender, with a strong portfolio showcasing applicable projects and skills.
- Experience in Unity game engine is an asset.
- Expertise in creating high-quality 3D assets optimized for Mobile apps or stand-alone VR
- Experience modelling complex environments like space stations or other scientific structures.
- Strong knowledge of optimization techniques to ensure assets perform well on stand-alone VR devices like Vive Focus 3 and Oculus Quest 3.
- Passion for space exploration and educational technology.
- Experience with version control systems like Git is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of developers, designers, and educators.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
