3d Exhibition Design Automation Lead job opportunity

Tailor Your Resume for this Job

Are you an AI-driven 3D exhibition designer who can help transform how exhibition stands are designed?

We’re looking for a 3D Exhibition Design Automation Lead to join Expo Centric and help us build the next generation of AI-assisted exhibition design workflows.

This is not a standard 3D Exhibition Designer role.

We are looking for someone who is already confident using AI tools in a practical design environment — not just experimenting with AI images, but using AI to improve design thinking, concept development, workflow speed, documentation, production accuracy and team capability.

The right person will have a strong understanding of 3D exhibition or spatial design, but they must also be highly capable and genuinely experienced in AI-assisted workflows.

You will help Expo Centric explore, test, build and implement AI systems that can support how we design, document and deliver exhibition stands.

You’ll help us answer practical questions such as:

  • How can AI help interpret client briefs and generate better design directions faster?
  • How can AI support 3D exhibition stand concepts, layouts and visualisation?
  • How can AI help designers use rental inventory and modular systems more effectively?
  • How can AI support CAD/Revit workflows, production drawings and handover documentation?
  • How do we prevent AI from creating designs that look impressive but cannot be built?
  • How do we train the design team to use AI properly and consistently?

At Expo Centric, we design and deliver exhibition stands, brand activations and event environments for clients across Australia and beyond. We are now looking for someone who can help us move beyond traditional design methods and build a smarter, AI-enabled design process.

You’ll be part designer, part AI workflow builder, part systems thinker and part trainer.

At Expo Centric, we don’t just fill roles — we build teams that create extraordinary experiences. Every position here plays a key part in delivering projects that wow our clients and help us grow.

You’ll be part of a company that lives by its core values: Courage, Curiosity, Selflessness, Judgement, and Communication.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the research, testing and implementation of AI tools for exhibition design, 3D concept development, design automation and production workflows.
  • Build AI-assisted workflows that help convert client briefs into practical exhibition stand concepts, layouts, design directions and proposal content.
  • Use AI to support faster ideation, moodboards, design rationale, render prompts, layout options and concept refinement.
  • Explore how AI can support CAD, Revit, BIM, SketchUp, Rhino, 3D modelling and production drawing workflows.
  • Help create a structured AI design knowledge base that can support Expo Centric’s design standards, rental inventory, modular systems and production constraints.
  • Develop prompt libraries, AI workflows, design templates, review checklists, QA steps and standard operating procedures.
  • Test AI tools and clearly document what works, what does not work, and what should not be used.
  • Work closely with 3D designers, production designers, project managers, estimators, factory teams and external AI or automation specialists where required.
  • Train design and production team members on how to use AI tools safely, consistently and effectively.
  • Create safeguards so AI-generated outputs are reviewed for buildability, accuracy, budget, modular system logic and production practicality.
  • Help build a long-term roadmap for repeatable AI-assisted exhibition design and production drawing systems.

✅ What You Bring

  • Strong hands-on experience using AI tools in design, 3D, creative production, automation, visualisation or workflow improvement.
  • A strong understanding of 3D exhibition design, spatial design, experiential design, production design, architecture, industrial design, computational design or a related field.
  • Practical experience using AI to support concept development, image generation, design iteration, workflow automation, prompt creation, research, documentation or production improvement.
  • Confidence testing AI tools and judging whether they are genuinely useful or just visually impressive.
  • Strong understanding of how exhibition concepts become buildable, documented and installed environments.
  • Experience with 3D design, CAD documentation, Revit/BIM workflows, production drawings, fabrication packs or technical drawing systems.
  • Practical knowledge of materials, modular systems, custom fabrication, flooring, lighting, graphics and installation logic.
  • Ability to structure information clearly so AI tools can use it reliably.
  • Ability to create prompt libraries, workflows, templates, checklists or repeatable design processes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to train designers and non-technical team members on new AI tools and workflows.
  • A practical mindset — you understand that AI outputs still need human review, production logic and commercial judgement.

AI Experience We Are Looking For

This role requires more than general curiosity about AI.

We are looking for someone who can show practical experience with one or more of the following:

  • Using AI tools to support design concepts, spatial design, 3D design or creative workflows.
  • Creating structured prompts, prompt libraries or AI workflow templates.
  • Testing AI tools and comparing outputs for quality, accuracy and usability.
  • Using AI to improve speed, consistency or quality in a design process.
  • Combining AI with tools such as CAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Grasshopper, 3ds Max, Blender, Adobe tools or other design software.
  • Using AI for research, brief interpretation, concept development, image generation, design narratives or documentation.
  • Understanding the risks of AI hallucination, inaccurate outputs and over-reliance.
  • Building or contributing to AI-assisted systems, agents, automations or knowledge bases.
  • Training others on how to use AI tools effectively and responsibly.

You do not need to be a software engineer, but you must be genuinely strong in AI-assisted design workflows and confident helping a design team adopt AI in a practical way.

Tools & Experience That Would Be Highly Valued

Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:

  • ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini or similar AI assistants
  • Midjourney / DALL·E / Stable Diffusion / Firefly or similar image generation tools
  • AI agents or AI workflow automation tools
  • Prompt engineering or structured prompt libraries
  • Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • 3ds Max
  • SketchUp
  • Rhino / Grasshopper
  • Blender
  • SolidWorks
  • Fusion 360
  • Vectorworks
  • Dynamo
  • Python
  • CAD automation
  • BIM automation
  • Parametric design
  • Generative design
  • CNC workflows
  • Aluvision, BeMatrix, Octanorm or similar modular exhibition systems

You do not need to have used every tool listed. However, you do need to be confident using AI as a serious design and workflow tool, not just as a visual experiment.

Why Join Expo Centric?

  • Lead a real AI transformation project inside a growing exhibition design and build company.
  • Move beyond traditional 3D design into AI, automation, design systems and workflow leadership.
  • Help shape how Expo Centric uses AI across design, production and project delivery.
