Ability Management Clerk

The Ability Management Clerk IV is a MoveUp Union position. In this role you are responsible for carrying out the daily operations of the organization’s occupation injury and illness claims administration and processes with WorkSafeBC. This includes coordinating union and non-union earnings, claims administration processes such as remittances, reconciliations, gathering investigation documents, witness and employee statements, and acting as a liaison with internal departments and external healthcare practitioners, community-based treatment providers and WorkSafeBC. This role works closely with internal and external stakeholders, gathering, coordinating and uploading pertinent documentation to the WSBC portal, healthcare providers and the Ability Management team.

In this role, you will support & document the WSBC claims administration processes which include filing Form 7’s, confirming short-term and long-term wage rates, verify timelines and claims duration records in internal HRIS and case management systems, invoice processing, and remittances. We are looking for a team player with an ability to focus, prioritize and organize time-sensitive tasks, strong communication skills, and efficient data processing abilities. You will have a passion for completing tasks on time, and managing competing demands, requests and ensuring accuracy and professionalism in all duties.

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you’ll do

  • Process and maintain basic claims information ensuring WorkSafeBC and non-occupational insurance forms, such as Weekly Indemnity (WI) files are kept up to date by performing duties such as completing Form 7’s and updating spreadsheets and databases.
  • Perform clerical functions such as filing, typing letters and memos. Mail distribution, departmental telephone reception and answering basic inquires.
  • Maintain flow of mail and correspondence identifying items that require further action from this which can be filed accordingly.
  • Ensure all files and disclosures are available for review before hearings, meetings and return to work counselling.
  • Ensure that WorkSafe BC Claims are processed by due dates and data regarding claims is accessible and organized.
  • Ensure timely distribution for forms, notices and bulletins.
  • Perform other clerical duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring

  • Completion of grade 12 supplemented by courses in business administration, human resources, general office procedures and typing.
  • Knowledge of general office / administrative procedures and commonly used office equipment (i.e: photocopiers, scanners, printers etc.).
  • Proven organization skills and the ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, recognizing departmental deadlines.
  • Ability to follow established processes with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, demonstrating discretion, cooperation and confidentiality.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Pay: Starts at $29.96/hour (rate increases to $32.59 after the probation period).

This is a unionized position and pay rate for this position are set out in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. The rate stated above is the starting rate for this position. It increases after the probationary period and continues to progress over the course of 12 months as per the collective agreement.
