The Role

As an Outside Sales Account Manager, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients while driving sales and fostering business growth - a mix of a "hunter" and "builder" profile. You will manage the entire sales process, from lead generation (cold outreach) and product demonstrations to client onboarding and support.

What You'll Do

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key accounts (both assigned and unassigned) by providing an exceptional customer experience and demonstrating a vested interest in their business.
  • Facilitate the entire sales process, including lead generation, product demonstrations, customer account onboarding, and claims resolution. This includes ensuring a smooth transition to the Customer Care team for ongoing support.
  • Develop, implement, and report on a yearly sales plan with monthly targets, based on quotas provided by the Director of Sales, including follow-up on inactive accounts.
  • Design and execute innovative sales strategies to source prospects and drive overall company growth, measured by the number of SMARTT Shipping demonstrations conducted and converted into customers.
  • Conduct market research to identify niche markets to focus sales initiatives on each quarter, building a robust pipeline.
  • Create and deliver proposals that accurately reflect requested services, including content development, costing, and thorough research.
  • Build a pipeline of prospective clients by cold calling, approaching warm leads, and leveraging your professional network.
  • Qualify leads, track the progress of account applications, and maintain accurate records in the company's CRM and ERP software.
  • Handle difficult conversations, including assisting Accounts Receivable with overdue invoices or working with Customer Care to address unfavourable outcomes.
  • Take initiative to acquire internal company knowledge (e.g., SMARTT Shipping, NetSuite, WMS), stay informed about industry trends and global economics, and engage in personal growth through books, seminars, and workshops.
  • Collaborate with the Claims department to reduce the percentage of claims for high-risk clients and with the Marketing department to develop sales collateral.
  • Attend out-of-office and after-hours networking events, including entertaining clients (e.g., dinners, fundraisers, hockey games).
  • Provide sales and administrative support, including answering phones, making customer calls, managing calendars, and scheduling site tours. Perform other ad hoc duties as needed within reason.

What You Offer

  • Proven experience in B2B sales or account management (logistics or supply chain experience preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, negotiation, and relationship-building skills in English a must; French is an added bonus.
  • Has a valid AB driver's license & Canadian passport
  • Proficiency with technological tools like CRM systems and sales reporting tools to compliment remote-first/on-the-road work environment

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
