Description
As an Account Manager in our Major Projects team, you will take ownership of a portfolio of major infrastructure and construction clients, delivering strategic risk and insurance advice for complex national projects. You will lead client relationships, manage technical placements, and negotiate directly with senior underwriters to achieve optimal outcomes. This role offers significant autonomy, exposure to large-scale projects, and the opportunity to mentor junior team members while advancing your own career within a high‑performing, fast‑growing practice.
The Role
This role moves beyond simple task management. You will be the strategic lead for our major construction clients, acting as their core advocate and ensuring their complex risk management and insurance needs are not just met, but exceeded. You'll drive new business, maximise revenue, and help shape the future of the practice.
- Act as a client advocate, ensuring all risk management and broking objectives are actioned to deliver high-quality service.
- Ensure delivery and engagement promises are met
- Implement client service strategies in line with best practices (e.g., Willis Client Service protocols).
- Manage multi-tier client contact and formal feedback (Net Promoter Score) processes for qualifying accounts.
- Oversee the renewal process to ensure zero outstanding renewals, maintaining client trust and compliance.
- Review contracts for compliance with insurance policies
- In conjunction with the team, develop insurance estimates for Projects
- Drive new business development strategies in consultation with leadership to meet and exceed annual team targets.
- Maintain accuracy and quality of information within the new business pipeline.
- Maximise revenue from existing clients through profitability analysis and full utilisation of group facilities.
- Manage the company profile by identifying and maintaining strategic relationships with key insurers in the market.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and the Financial Services Reform Act Tier 1 education requirements (e.g., Diploma of Financial Services, Insurance Broking).
- Support training, mentoring, and development of people within the Construction Practice
Qualifications

- Proven ability to form and maintain great relationships with clients and the insurance market.
- Experienced Account Manager within the insurance broking industry, preferably in construction.
- Proven ability to understand a client’s needs and exceed their expectations.
- Professional, reliable, and able to work autonomously with minimal guidance.
- Substantial insurance broking and/or industry experience.
- Significant demonstrated experience in complex coverage and wording reviews.
- Demonstrated understanding of claims management processes.
- Qualifications in accordance with the Financial Services Reform Act (minimum Tier 1 Broking Compliance).
- Broad understanding of business, economic, and environmental factors.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant business experience.
