Future Learning language school was founded in 2013 and is driven by educators. We are a team of experts in the area of Educational Technology with many years of experience in designing and delivering programmes for young people which make best use of teaching and learning through technology. We are actively involved in developing and promoting the effective use of technology in the classroom both in Ireland, the UK, and throughout Europe. Our approach of Project-Based, Technology Enhanced Learning means that students work together to complete projects through English, using technology where it can help them in reaching their objective.
The Accounting Manager leads a small team responsible for customer credit control, billing, revenue recognition, customer payments, ensuring that the company policies are adhered to, and risks are minimized. They collaborate with various departments to ensure that all services delivered are properly accounted for and that there is a timely generation of accurate customer invoices. They also supervise the processing of customer payments, ensuring that they are accurately applied to the appropriate accounts. In addition they continuously monitor customer credit terms and payment patterns and take proactive measures to manage credit risks and ensure timely collections. The Accounting Manager provides actionable insights to optimize the business while minimizing financial risks and ensures accuracy and completeness of the company accounts in line with accounting standards.
- Reports to: Board of Directors
- Location: Working from the Dublin or Athlone schools with the option to agree some work from home day once probation has been concluded.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday: 08:45 - 17:15 (40 hours with 30 min break), with all approved overtime used as TOIL up to a maximum of 40 hours per year.
- Job Type: Permanent full time position
- Salary Package 45,000 - 50,000 Euro depending on Experience
- Matching Employer Pension Contribution of 2% of salary
Non-Exhaustive Duties
- Guide and mentor the accounts team members to enhance performance and professional growth.
- Full ownership of monthly management accounts and P&L reporting
- Track and analyse costs, revenues, and overall expenses
- Oversee the processing of invoices, reconciling of accounts (payable and receivable), and establish robust financial controls
- Liaise with revenue, our accountants and other external bodies as needed
- Maintain up-to-date records using Xero Accounts software
- Find opportunities for savings based on analysis of the accounts
- Advise and support the owners in establishing and maintaining robust financial processes
- Manage payroll and expense procedures
- Prepare monthly management accounts to trial balance
- Post month-end journals, including accruals and prepayments
- Support the year-end company filings
- Prepare annual budgets and cash flow forecasts
- Monitor and report on variances against budget
- Manage credit control processes
- Work with the team to resolve any discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
Skills and qualifications
- Strong experience in accounting, management accounting, or bookkeeping
- Comfortable with wide-ranging SME finance duties
- Knowledge of the Educational Travel sector is a plus (e.g. School management software such as Intrinsiq and booking platforms such as Edvisor).
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g. Xero & Batch payment add-on Parolla, Transfermate / Flywire / Stripe, Revolut).
- Detail-oriented, pragmatic, and able to work independently
- Confident communicator with directors
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong spreadsheet and IT systems knowledge
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- A commercial, results-driven mindset
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €45,000.00-€50,000.00 per year
