ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR (Non-Exempt Position)

We are seeking a detail-driven Accounting Assistant/Accounting Coordinator to join our Finance team. This role works closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and plays a vital part in maintaining the financial integrity and transparency that support our operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including invoice review and coding, payment processing, check issuance, and timely follow-up on vendor and agency inquiries.
- Process checks and bank deposits in coordination with the Development Department, ensuring accurate recording of donations, grants, and contributions.
- Support month-end close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of accurate financial records.
- Assist the CFO with the annual audit process, including financial audits, Single Audit requirements, and preparation of IRS Form 990.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial planning efforts.
- Oversee inventory accounting, working closely with Warehouse and program teams to conduct cycle counts, reconcile inventory records, and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to funding agencies and stakeholders.
- Ensure all financial transactions and reporting comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies.
- Provide additional finance and administrative support as needed to advance the Finance Department and organizational mission.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience (7+ years in accounting or finance with a strong, proven work history) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
- 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience preferred.
- Experience in a nonprofit, grant-funded environment is highly desirable; familiarity with fund accounting is a plus.
Knowledge, Technical, and Soft Skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP; knowledge of fund accounting is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to financial systems and technology platforms.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.

What We Offer
Compensation:
$42,000.00 (3+ years of experience or more)
$40,000.00 (1-3 years of experience)
