What You’ll Do:
As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee all accounting functions for OAK + FORT. This role requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who can take ownership of projects, meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
This is a maternity leave replacement role and will be 12 months in duration.
What You’re Responsible For:
- Manage and develop all teams within the Accounting department to their best ability along with hiring and expanding teams as needed for future growth
- Set clear departmental goals and communicate to the teams
- Monitor team performance and manage reporting metrics
- Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments
- Coach underperforming areas and teams in order to achieve results required
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure that there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation
- Preparation of working papers;
- Review journal entries are entered and posted on a timely basis;
- Reconcile general ledger and accounts on a periodic basis;
- Develop monthly and quarterly accounting reports for the management and executive teams
- Implement and monitor the month, quarter and year-end closeout accounting schedules
- Support and participate in the preparation and analysis of annual departmental budgets;
- Monitor and report on budgets and KPI;
- Oversee financial reports for stockholders, taxes, regulatory agencies, and other financial groups relating to company finance
- Forecast and plans according to fiscal needs
- Create new internal accounting corporate policies and maintain existing policies
- Responsible for the year-end audit
- Responsible for sales tax filing and compliance across all jurisdictions
- Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
- Advise on procedure and financial management as well as developing policies
- Monitor emerging technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability
- Follow and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
- Complete other projects or responsibilities as assigned
What We're Looking For:
We’re looking for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong teams, scalable processes, and insight-driven reporting to support better decisions. If you’re excited by the role and meet most of the below, we’d love to hear from you.
- You’ve had experience with:
- Leading full-cycle accounting operations in a multi-functional environment.
- Preparing financial statements, and managing audits or tax filings.
- Cost accounting, inventory accounting, and margin analysis—especially in retail, product-based, or multi-entity settings.
- Strengthening internal controls, improving processes, or implementing/optimizing ERP or financial systems.
- Working cross-functionally and explaining financial information in clear, accessible ways.
- Guiding or mentoring accounting team members.
- You’re likely someone who:
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and comfort with GAAP.
- ERP experience - NetSuite experience preferred
- Brings a high level of accuracy, detail orientation, and commitment to integrity.
- Enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and thinking several steps ahead.
- Can manage ambiguity with calm, clarity, and structure.
- Communicates with clarity and collaborates well with diverse teams.
- Balances strategy with hands-on execution.
Designations such as CPA (or equivalent) are welcomed, but not required; if you bring the experience, capability, and judgment to lead in this space, we want to meet you.
