Introduction:
Disaster Relief Australia is seeking expressions of interest from internal staff or Volunteers who may be interested in stepping into the Acting Associate Director – Disaster Relief & Recovery Team (DRRT) Northern Territory role.

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to leadership of DRRT capability in the Northern Territory while supporting operational readiness and volunteer engagement.

The Associate Director DRRT NT provides regional leadership, coordination and oversight of DRA’s deployable capability in the Northern Territory, ensuring teams remain engaged, ready, safe and aligned with DRA’s operational standards and the 2030 Strategy.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director Disaster Relief & Recovery Teams, the Acting Associate Director will:

Provide leadership and coordination of the DRRT Northern Territory
Support volunteer leadership teams and ensure readiness for deployments
Represent DRA as Liaison Officer to the Northern Territory during disaster events
Work closely with Field Operations, Preparedness, and Organisational Support teams
Maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, councils, NGOs and community partners
Contribute to operational readiness, governance and reporting

The role plays an important part in ensuring DRRT capability remains safe, scalable and integrated into national operations.

Skills and Experiences:
What will you bring to the role

Demonstrates strong leadership and collaboration
Has experience working with volunteers and operational teams
Communicates confidently with internal and external stakeholders
Is organised and able to manage operational readiness and coordination
Aligns with DRA’s values of Courage, Respect, Service and Tenacity
Experience in disaster response, emergency management, volunteer leadership, or operational coordination will be highly regarded
