Activities Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors, and will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, including those requiring dementia care.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
• Assist residents in participating in activities, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout.
• Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and staff to promote participation and gather feedback on activities.
• Maintain accurate records of resident participation and preferences to help tailor future activities.
• Collaborate with other team members to create a supportive environment that fosters social interaction and emotional well-being.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of activity spaces, ensuring they are clean and organised for each session.
• Provide support during special events or outings, ensuring all residents are included and engaged.

Skills

• Previous experience in assisted living, care homes, or nursing homes is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors and their families.
• A genuine interest in senior care, particularly in understanding the needs of individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in various situations.
• Organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• A compassionate approach with patience and empathy towards residents' needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability
