This position is an entry level actuarial position. The primary purpose is to assist actuaries in the analysis of product performance while learning techniques & logic of basic actuarial analysis. The position involves the use of strong analytic and problem solving skills, including sophisticated mathematical analysis and modeling. The position works closely with other actuaries. This position provides training to the incumbent in the Actuarial function and serves as an entry to the Actuarial program.
- (25%) Programs and runs computer jobs to collect data and summarizes to assist in various actuarial functions. Provides initial analysis of the data and impact on the company’s financials.
- (35%) Performs actuarial tasks which are of a mathematical and quantitative nature.
- (25%) Compiles and categorizes data, documenting and verifying factors used in computations such as those used in evaluating loss and expense reserves, preparing rate filings, schedules of statistics, financial statements, premiums, benefits and establishing rating and pricing levels.
- (15%) Gains familiarity about specific product lines, company operations, systems and actuarial methodology through completion of actuarial exams.
- Actively pursue actuarial accreditation. Maintains good standing in the actuarial student program.
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics.
- Successful completion of two (2) actuarial exams.
- Completion of one internship prior to graduation.
- Commitment and capability to pass one additional actuarial exam every 6-18 months.
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite & exposure to database tools and other programming languages (such as C++, Visual Basic).
- Effective listener. Ability to document own work.
- Ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to master actuarial course material.
- Basic organization and time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to develop insights into how projects work and the significance of tasks performed.
- Ability and commitment to stay compliant with the Actuarial Study Program.
