JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Animal Services Assistant Manager, responsible for front-desk operations and customer service at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS). Level I of II in Animal Services Specialists.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Performs front-desk reception and customer service
- Processes intake of stray, owner-surrendered, community cats, and rabies-quarantine animals
- Reviews animal microchip data: may contact microchip company, veterinarian and/or registered pet owners to facilitate return
- Records documentation of animal health, behavior, medication, and vaccination status
- Reviews and processes applications and provides counseling for adoptions and fosters
- Processes payments, issues receipt and balances a cash drawer
- Performs data entry and maintains electronic documentation files
- Receives and distributes deliveries of supplies and donations
- Performs janitorial duties to maintain the administrative areas of the shelter
- Follows all safety measures and policies, including proper animal restraints and reading animal behavioral cues, and promptly reports any safety incidents to leadership
- Performs special duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions and standing
- Position involves lifting and carrying of animals and equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objects
- Ability to hear and/or see alert cues regarding animal and staff security
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
- Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
- Frequent handling of animals, including contact with waste and blood
- Exposure to unpleasant smells and a noisy and wet environment associated with a shelter
- Exposure animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratch
IRREGULAR HOURS
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- May be deemed essential personnel for emergency situations at discretion of Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of administrative experience, preferably in a customer-service role
- One (1) year cash-handling experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required within thirty (30) days of employment
- Valid driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) years of administrative experience, preferably in a customer service role
- Experience in animal behavior, health, or welfare field
- Bilingual (Spanish)
