Administrator‑In‑Training (Ait) - Onsite Leadership Development Program

Location: Bent County Healthcare Center — Las Animas, Colorado Housing Provided Onsite

Are you an experienced healthcare professional looking to take the next step into leadership? We are seeking a motivated and driven Administrator‑in‑Training (AIT) to join our team. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Preceptor, you will complete a state‑mandated, hands‑on training program designed to prepare you for licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator (NHA).

This is an immersive, onsite program that offers a clear pathway to leadership within our organization. Upon obtaining your license, you will be placed as an Administrator at one of our skilled nursing facilities.

• Direct Path to Leadership: A significant number of our current Administrators were internal promotions, including former AITs and Directors of Nursing.
• Onsite Housing Provided: Comfortable accommodations are available at the training facility in Las Animas, CO for the duration of your AIT rotation.

  • Interim Role: After licensure and before facility placement, you will work in Admissions, Marketing, or another key administrative role—usually at a higher rate than the training stipend.

You will rotate through all major departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of skilled nursing facility operations, including:

• Clinical Operations: How nursing and administration collaborate to drive quality care
• Department Management: Exposure to department head responsibilities and workflows
• Regulatory Compliance: State and federal long‑term care regulations
• Financial Oversight: Budgeting, payroll, and financial statement analysis
• Human Resources: Staffing, orientation, and performance management
• Marketing & Admissions: Census development and the admissions process

Required Background: We are seeking candidates with a strong foundation in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) industry, ideally with director‑level or high‑level administrative experience in:

• Admissions / Marketing
• Social Services
• Business Office Management
• Other relevant department‑head roles

Note: Activities‑only backgrounds are generally less aligned with the administrative focus of this program.

Education: A completed 4‑year degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
