In this role, you will:

Responsibility 1 – Recovery project management and tracking

  • Manage various project streams and activities.

  • Oversee workplan et timeline development of assigned projects.

  • Perform monthly and quarterly monitoring of projects under their supervision (including a project progress dashboard).

  • Monitor assigned projects’ budgets in collaboration with the Finance team (financial dashboard).

  • Lead team meetings and attend coordination meetings, as needed.

  • Mentor, coach and support employees and volunteers under their supervision, as applicable.

  • Represent the Quebec team on national working groups.

  • Produce various expert, analytical, statistical, accountability and project close-out reports

Responsibility 2 – Content development and advisory role

  • Develop, write, and update the documentation and tools needed to carry out recovery projects.

  • Conduct and assess pilot projects.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations.

  • Support staff responsible for leading and coaching volunteer teams.

  • Plan and implement recovery-related projects and activities with the public, organizations, and municipalities.

  • Maintain current knowledge of recovery literature.

  • Develop guidelines, workshops, tools and presentations on the recovery process in collaboration with relevant departments.

  • Provide advice to organizations and municipalities interested in developing recovery projects.

  • Ensure service quality and compliance with established standards and procedures across the CRC and in Quebec.

Responsibility 3 – Collaboration, consultation and partnerships

  • Consult and work with internal and external partners to identify needs, development priorities and content to be developed.

  • Facilitate working committees, workshops, and meetings with internal and external partners and the public.

  • Maintain relationships with government, municipal, philanthropic, community, and other partners.

  • Represent the Quebec team with internal and external partners.

Responsibility 4 – Emergency response

  • Work with Emergency Management team members to develop and implement emergency preparedness plans.

  • Support large-scale domestic disaster responses, as required.

  • Support the delivery of CRC services to impacted individuals.

  • Implement and regularly update various components of the Red Cross’s emergency assistance program to adequately meet the needs of impacted individuals.

  • Liaise with other assistance stakeholders to maximize needs coverage.

  • Ensure that services are delivered in compliance with established standards and procedures.

  • Liaise with partners to optimize service delivery.

  • Be on-call when scheduled, as required.

  • Attend operational debriefings.

  • Support the implementation of recovery programs.


What we are looking for:

  • A university degree; any combination of training and experience may be considered.

  • At least two years of relevant and recognized experience in project management.

  • Applied knowledge of emergency preparedness, particularly in the area of recovery.

  • Experience collaborating with partners from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Experience working in a volunteer environment is an asset.

  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract.

  • Extensive knowledge of and practical experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Fluency in French is required, English is an asset.


Working conditions:

  • Will be working primarily in a home office, or office environment. Must be able to travel when required.

  • May be required to be on call as scheduled.

  • Conditions during emergency responses:

  • May be required to respond in disaster areas, in difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odours, smoke, humidity, vulnerable clients) that may have physical and psychological impacts.

  • May have to stay in rudimentary lodging.

  • May be required to work during non-traditional hours (i.e., evenings and weekends) and to work long hours in a challenging context.

  • Possibility of being deployed anywhere within the affected area, as required.
