About the role

NZEI Te Riu Roa is looking for a Union Advocate to join our team in the New Year. You will report to a Campaign Lead and your role will include:

  • Leading the advocacy, bargaining and coordination of all aspects of collective agreements
  • Leading pay equity claims
  • Developing bargaining plans prior to bargaining that build member’s collective power, membership and activism
  • Briefing negotiation teams and member leadership groups involved in advocacy work
  • Providing oversight of the implementation of agreements and lead processes (such as working groups) that take place between negotiation rounds
  • Establishing and maintaining great working relationships with stakeholder groups

Skills and experience

  • You can demonstrate strong strategic analysis and planning skills
  • Understanding organising and campaigning unions
  • Knowledge, experiences and understanding of collective agreements
  • Bargaining or negotiation experience with strong verbal and written communication skills
