We're sourcing for a 2nd shift (3:30PM- 12:00AM) In-Process Inspector for our mid-sized aerospace manufacturing facility.
Our core competencies include: Manufactured aircraft sub-assemblies, contoured sheet metal fabrication and small-to-medium CNC machined components.
Must have experience in aerospace manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Review of supplier-provided quality documentation (certificates, test results, etc.)
- Performance of mechanical inspection of manufactured and purchased machined parts using hand-held measuring devices.
- Performance of form, fit, function inspection to design drawings/mylars of sheet metal parts
- Performance of Over-inspections of finished goods inventory per Inspection Plan.
- Performance of visual inspection to ensure cosmetic acceptance prior to parts going to outside processing or internal finishing.
- Completion of inspection reports on company-provided formats
- Data entry in the organization’s ERP system.
- Assisting other inspectors in fulfillment of their job duties, as required
- Performance of any and all tasks in support of the organization’s Quality Management System – as assigned by the Director of Quality or his designee.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
Requirements
- Inspection Techniques & Tools – Blueprint Reading; Geometric Tolerancing; utilization of: CMM, micrometers, verniers, height gauges, depth gauges, pin gauges, profilometer, visual comparator, etc.
- Communication – ability to establish rapport with others; effective verbal presentation and professional presence; ability to generate succinct e-mails and informational reports; completion of inspection documents per company procedures.
- Computer Literacy – ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook); experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform (i.e. EPICOR/SAP/ORACLE/GLOBAL)
- Work Ethic – self-starter capable of working on their own who takes ownership of the process and holds themselves accountable for high quality work at a good pace; good attendance record and flexibility to work over-time, as required.
- Education – High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience – Two (2)years in a quality control/assurance function in a manufacturing facility with demonstrable experience in mechanical and visual inspection using hand-held measuring devices and workmanship standards; First Article Inspection experience per AS9102 desired.
- Related Industry Experience – At least six-months experience in one of the following manufacturing industries: Aerospace (AS9100 including AS9102 First Article Inspection - preferred); Automotive (TS19649 including PPAP process); Medical Devices (ISO 13485)
- Certification: ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector desirable; capable of obtaining a Sikorsky Designated Quality Representative (DQR) certification
- Language: Ability to read and interpret documents (English) such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate clearly with supervisor and coworkers.
- Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving limited variables in manufacturing process.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
