Position Summary

As an After-School Enrichment Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering engaging, high-quality afterschool enrichment programming for elementary students. This position emphasizes creative instruction, student-centered learning, and structured activities that support academic, social, and emotional development in a safe and supportive environment. You will lead hands-on lessons and activities in areas such as arts, STEM, fitness, or literacy, helping students explore new interests and develop key skills beyond the school day.

This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about youth engagement, education, and fostering a positive, enriching environment during afterschool hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enrichment Activity Delivery: Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate enrichment lessons in specialized content areas (e.g., Arts, STEM, sports, or other focus areas) aligned with program goals and student interests.
  • Classroom Management: Create a structured and inclusive classroom environment that promotes safety, respect, participation, and collaboration among students.
  • Student Engagement & Development: Build strong relationships with students to support their social-emotional growth, encourage curiosity, and nurture creativity and critical thinking.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with site coordinators, school staff, and fellow instructors to ensure program consistency, student safety, and effective behavior management.
  • Attendance & Reporting: Track student attendance, participation, and behavior; report any incidents or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Program Enrichment: Continuously improve lesson plans and instructional strategies based on student needs, program feedback, and enrichment best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, recreation, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience in youth programming, camp leadership, or afterschool education also considered.
  • ESSA Compliance: Must meet the minimum qualifications under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for Expanded Learning Program staff, which may include completion of 48 college units, an Associate’s degree, or passing a local academic assessment.
  • Instructional Skills: Experience working with groups of K–6 students in a structured setting; strong classroom or group management skills.
  • Creativity & Initiative: Ability to design and facilitate engaging enrichment activities tailored to a range of ages and interests.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities; able to collaborate with peers and engage positively with students and families.
  • Dependability & Professionalism: Punctual, organized, and committed to maintaining a safe, fun, and respectful learning environment.
  • Cultural Competence: Experience working with diverse student populations; inclusive and culturally responsive in approach.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods, actively supervise and interact with children, and lift up to 50 pounds. Continued employment is contingent upon meeting these physical requirements, unless a reasonable accommodation can be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in afterschool, summer, or youth enrichment programs.
  • Knowledge or background in Arts, STEM, or sports is preferred but not required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin) are a plus.

Details

  • Wage: $562.50/week (before+after school)
  • Job Type: Part-time; Temporary
  • Availability: Monday - Friday between 2PM - 5PM
  • Location: Robla School District schools, Sacramento, CA

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.50 per hour

Experience:

  • Teacher coaching: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:

  • Sacramento, CA (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Sacramento, CA: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
