The YMCA Y Scholars Program is hiring a Site Coordinator to lead one of our vibrant, school-based programs serving K–8 students for the 2025–2026 school year. In this role, you will guide a dedicated team, cultivate a high-quality learning environment, and support students as they grow academically, creatively, and socially.

Position Overview

  • Start Date: August 2025
  • End Date: June 2026 (position will transition to school-based camp over summer)
  • Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:30 PM
  • Location: Elementary or middle school in Richmond, San Pablo, or El Sobrante
  • Compensation: $33/hour (full-time, non-exempt, hourly)
  • Hours: 40 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

As Site Coordinator, you will serve as the central leader of your school site. You will be responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging experience for students and staff. Your leadership will help shape program quality, team culture, and student success.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering high-quality afterschool programming that promotes academic, creative, and physical development
  • Recruiting and enrolling students to ensure broad access and strong participation
  • Building strong relationships with students and families through events, outreach, and regular communication
  • Supervising, coaching, and mentoring program staff and volunteers to foster a positive and effective team
  • Leading staff onboarding and supporting ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Conducting regular site observations and providing timely, constructive performance feedback
  • Collaborating with school staff, community partners, and YMCA leadership to align goals and support student success
  • Managing daily site operations including attendance tracking, scheduling, compliance, and budget oversight
  • Participating in YMCA trainings and contributing to organizational projects and initiatives
  • Applying best practices in youth development and working to continuously improve program quality

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in youth development, education, or a related field
  • 1+ year of supervisory or leadership experience
  • 48 college units or passing score on the Instructional Aide Exam
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Google Drive, Airtable, Zoom, and other digital tools
  • Reliable transportation for meetings and trainings
  • Ability to pass DOJ/FBI background checks
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (within 30 days of hire)

  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities
  • Must occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
  • Frequent bending & standing
  • Able to walk for long periods of time
  • Visual ability to clearly monitor activities in both indoor and outdoor settings
  • Mobility to quickly respond to emergencies
