Position: Tutor – After-School Programs
Organization: Chautauqua Striders
Location: Jamestown Public Schools (Elementary or Middle School)
Site Placement: Ring, Love, Bush, Fletcher, Lincoln, Washington Middle, or Jefferson Middle
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 2:30–5:30 PM (Friday optional)
About Us:
Chautauqua Striders is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth through education, mentoring, and athletics. In partnership with Jamestown Public Schools, YMCA and YWCA of Jamestown, the after-school programs create safe, supportive spaces for students to grow academically and socially.
Position Summary:
We’re looking for dedicated and enthusiastic tutors to support students in grades K–8. Tutors provide homework help, lead enrichment activities, and help create a positive learning environment. This is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about youth development and education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized academic support and homework help
- Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons and enrichment activities
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Maintain a respectful and well-managed classroom
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older
- Behavior management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible and adaptable to student needs
- Reliable and punctual
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) is a plus
- Experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring (preferred)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
