Salary:

  • Compliance 19: Salaries typically range from $109,810 - $146,413 annually plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • FinDev Canada headquarters is in downtown Montreal. For the right candidate, Ottawa or Toronto will be considered, with the flexibility to work under a hybrid model (home/office).

Position & Team Overview

The Senior Compliance Officer works closely with members of the compliance and enterprise risk management teams in the Chief Risk Officer’s group. FinDev Canada’s compliance function ensures the effective implementation and continuous enhancement of the Compliance Risk Management Program. This program is designed to identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report compliance risks arising from FinDev Canada’s activities, including international branch offices, and fostering a strong culture of ethics and integrity.

The Senior Compliance Officer plays a key role in developing, executing, and enhancing the compliance program to maintain adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards. The Senior Compliance Officer also supports the enterprise risk management team across other risk elements to draft, review, implement, and monitor enterprise risk management policies, key risk indicators, controls, and reporting.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Support the implementation of FinDev Canada’s Compliance Program including applicable legal and regulatory requirements related to financial crime, privacy, conflicts of interest, insider trading, among other risks and obligations.
  • Support the design, implementation, and testing of controls or compliance, and other enterprise risks. Where appropriate, conduct risk assessments and assist in the identification of more effective compliance or enterprise risk controls.
  • Support the drafting, review, implementation, and monitoring of enterprise risk management policy instruments.
  • Identify and assess compliance issues and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure risk mitigation measures are effective and aligned with strategic priorities and risk appetite.
  • Provide guidance and develop training for employees and management on compliance and risk-related matters.
  • Collaborate to produce compliance reports to senior management, the Risk Management Committee, and the Board of Directors.
  • Stay informed about regional and international regulatory changes and industry trends to provide guidance to internal stakeholders on emerging risks and assess impact on existing processes and procedures.


What We Are Looking For

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, law or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in compliance, enterprise risk management, and/or related functions within the financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across geographies.
  • Proficiency in enterprise risk management.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment tools and software.
  • Fluency in both official languages (English & French).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CCRCM, CAMS, or equivalent.
  • International experience relevant to FinDev Canada’s geographic focus (Latin America, the Caribbean, the Indo-Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa).
