Where you fit in
We are looking for an agronomist with in-depth knowledge of the agricultural sector, including fertilization regulations and crop cultivation, combined with strong strategic and commercial acumen.
You will join a company that builds, owns, and operates biogas plants both nationally and internationally. As an agronomist at Shell Biogas, you will play a key role in strengthening collaboration between farmers and the biogas sector. This is a unique opportunity to positively influence the relationship between one of the world’s largest biogas producers and the agricultural community, while supporting Denmark’s leading role in the global green transition.
What is the role
As an Agronomist, you will be part of an international agricultural team led by the Agronomy Manager, Kristian Petersen. You will act as the agricultural specialist within Shell Biogas, contributing to the development of new plants, shaping strategies related to fertilizer products, and ensuring alignment with agricultural legislation. You will also serve as a key driver in developing and maintaining relationships with farmers, scientific institutions, and agricultural organizations. In this role, you will handle a broad range of responsibilities, working at the interface between Shell Biogas and external stakeholders such as farmers, industry bodies, and authorities, while also supporting internal business functions.
Your Key Responsibilities will include:
Leading the analysis and implementation of regulatory and legislative initiatives within agriculture and waste management
Acting as the primary agricultural contact for government authorities, municipalities, and industry organizations
Maintaining expert knowledge of agricultural practices, including crop cultivation and fertilizer use
Acting as a professional coordinator for Mark Online and Biogas Online, and ensuring quality assurance of IT systems related to agricultural data (e.g., fertilizer values and biomass categorization)
Collaborating with other departments on the development and marketing of fertilizer products, including communicating the benefits of degassed biomass
Participating in research projects and analyses related to emissions from degassed biomass
Contributing to strategic initiatives regarding the future use of degassed biomass and other fertilizer products
Working with Supply Chain to maintain and develop contractual and logistical solutions
Collaborating with Business Development on new biogas plant projects nationally and internationally, including drafting contracts with agricultural partners
Supporting Asset Management (operations) with quality assurance of fertilizer products, values, and sales channels
Assisting Asset Management with day-to-day operational tasks such as contract and relationship management
Partnering with HSSE and Corporate Relations to ensure compliance with agricultural legislation (e.g., Livestock Manure Order, Waste to Soil Order, Organic Order)
Collaborating with Procurement on sourcing biomass, particularly agricultural biomass
What we need from you
We are looking for a talented professional with strong expertise in the agricultural sector, particularly in crop production and its regulatory framework. Knowledge of livestock production and the biogas industry, including environmental aspects, is highly desirable.
Relevant educational background in agronomy or a related field
Strong expertise in fertilization and crop cultivation, including manure and degassed biomass management
3–5 years of experience in crop advisory or plant production advisory roles
Proven experience working with and advising farmers
Ability to work independently in a structured manner, combined with strong strategic thinking skills
Results-oriented, proactive, communicative, and resilient personality
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally
Experience facilitating meetings or conferences with larger groups of farmers and collaborating constructively with industry bodies and authorities
Proficiency in English (written and spoken) and willingness to travel internationally (approximately 20–30 days per year)
Advanced knowledge of Mark Online; experience with Biogas Online is preferred
Strong Excel skills and experience creating presentations in PowerPoint
