About the Role
The NSW Government’s Farms of the Future Program is driving innovation across regional NSW by supporting farmers to adopt practical, profitable and sustainable Agtech solutions. We are seeking an Agtech Specialist Mixed Farming to play a key role in delivering this program at a regional level.
In this role, you will work closely with growers, industry partners, researchers and government colleagues to accelerate the uptake of Agtech solutions that improve productivity, profitability and sustainability. You will manage regional demonstration and collaboration hubs, deliver targeted capability-building activities, and act as a trusted source of advice on emerging Agtech opportunities.
Working as an Agtech Specialist you will:
  • Partner with relevant DPIRD extension and education colleagues, regional industry and other stakeholders to deliver activities that accelerate the uptake of Agtech in NSW, such as education development and delivery, field days and demonstration hubs
  • Provide timely information and advice to the project team on current and emerging Agtech issues and regional industry development opportunities
  • You will manage regional demonstration hubs and collaboration sites. As well as associated networks that support the successful adoption of Agtech farming technologies
  • Represent DPIRD Agriculture at events, meetings and other forums, including to present DPIRD’s work and to contribute to project planning
  • Manage and monitor local implementation of the adoption program
  • Ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, to quality standards and within agreed scope and budget in line with established agency project management methodology
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, industry partners and organisations to achieve program objectives

What you need to be successful as an Agtech Specialist:
  • Degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NSW agricultural industry, the specific region and its farming systems, key profit drivers and factors impacting on productivity and sustainability
  • Proven experience in developing, delivering and evaluating collaborative projects for industry
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel
