Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives.

We provide a diverse range of services to individuals, families and community education. Our services include withdrawal services; one-on-one assessment and treatment by psychologists and counsellors; group therapy; residential rehabilitation; and free education at Odyssey College.

Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and innovative professional to work within a small Community Programs team based at Redfern on full time basis for a fixed term. This role may require travelling between or working at other Odyssey House NSW hub and outreach sites as required. This position provides effective, comprehensive AOD assessment that is holistic and culturally competent.

The successful applicant’s main role will be to conduct assessments with further opportunities to facilitate educational and support groups, provide counselling face to face and online, in addition to making appropriate and supported referrals to other services as required. They will assist with creating linkages to relevant support services to enhance the broad recovery outcomes for clients.

The AOD Treatment Worker duties include providing care coordination and contributing to the development of educational and support programs focused on AOD and social and emotional support relevant to clients in recovery. Responsibilities involve evaluation and review of client treatment plans, maintaining client notes and data, and providing an integrated service liaising with other agencies and support services.

Skills and Experiences:
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
  • Relevant VET qualification.
  • (Desirable) Tertiary qualification in relevant field.
  • Significant experience supporting persons with AOD support needs, mental health support needs and/or co-existing support needs.
  • Experience in group facilitation and group program delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience working in team environment to deliver coordinated support.
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking brief and comprehensive assessment as well as ongoing assessment of client support needs.
  • (Desirable) Experience working within a non-government AOD treatment program.
  • (Desirable) Experience in provision of one-to-one support for people with AOD and/or Mental Health support needs.
  • Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office Suite and use of Client Management Systems.
  • Demonstrable communication skills including report writing, case note writing.
  • Understanding of the principles of the Privacy Act and its practical implementation in service delivery.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment, harm minimisation, care coordination and support strategies.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implement the principles of WHS, EEO and continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Hold a current NSW Driver's Licence.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Criminal History Check and Working With Children clearance for paid employment.
  • Unlimited right to live and work in Australia.
  • COVID Vaccinated.
