Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

The Allied Health Clinical Informatics Lead will lead and support Allied Health clinical informatics activity across Eastern Health, in alignment with the Digital Health strategy and EMR governance. Reporting operationally to the Director, EMR Medical Informatics (Chief Medical Information Officer) with a ‘dotted reporting line’ to the Director of Allied Health, the role serves as a liaison between Allied Health clinicians and leaders, the eHealth/Digital teams and organisational governance groups to support the design, implementation, enhancement and optimisation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and related clinical systems. The role applies approved standards and best-practice principles to improve usability, workflow efficiency, data quality, reporting and interoperability, and will lead the Allied Health Informatics Governance Group and delivery of an annual Allied Health Informatics work plan.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in a Health related field as an Allied Health Professional
  • Eligibility for registration with AHPRA or if a member of a non AHPRA registered profession, eligible for membership of the relevant professional body
  • Demonstrated clinical informatics experience, including workflow analysis, documentation design, change management and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience supporting the implementation and optimisation of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or equivalent clinical information system in a complex healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical requirements into clear specifications and to support testing (including user acceptance testing) and safe release of changes
  • High level written and verbal communication skills, with ability to engage clinicians and communicate decisions, risks and outcomes to diverse stakeholders

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
