Description:
The Officer contributes to the administration and enforcement of the Domestic Animals Act 1994, Regulations, Codes, Local Laws and other associated legislation, with the main emphasis on animal management, under the control of the Council’s Local Laws and Animal Management Unit. The Officer may be required to assist with other duties in order to achieve the objectives of the Local Laws and Animal Management Unit.

Skills and Experiences:
To Apply for this role, please include a cover letter addressing the following Key Selection Criteria:

Key Selection Criteria

Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation or Certificate IV in Statutory Compliance, or less formal qualifications with extensive experience in a similar role
Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to impart information to people from varied backgrounds and with different levels of knowledge.
Demonstrated relevant experience in handling animals, including aggressive animals.
An ability to manage time and plan/organise your own work to achieve specific objectives within the constraints of resources available and set timeframes.
Demonstrated ability to undertake tasks that include investigation, research, assessment and then provide accurate documentation to reflect the investigation including a brief of evidence for hearing in a Magistrates court or relevant tribunal.
Ability to work autonomously and use discretion.
Sound computer skills.
