Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Carpenter / Laborer to join our construction team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in various aspects of carpentry and construction, providing a foundation for a career in the industry. The role involves assisting skilled tradespeople with diverse projects, gaining practical skills, and understanding construction processes. Ideal candidates are eager to learn, reliable, and physically capable of performing demanding tasks on construction sites.
Responsibilities
- Assist with framing, trim carpentry, and other carpentry tasks using hand tools and power tools
- Support in concrete forming, rebar installation, and masonry work
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
- Perform demolition, site cleanup, and material handling including heavy lifting
- Install fixtures such as doors, cabinets, siding, and drywall (including stucco and caulking)
- Support siding, flooring installation, or tile laying tasks as needed
- Follow safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and accurately
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and techniques; experience with hand tools and power tools preferred
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and schematics is a plus
- Prior construction site experience or related industry exposure is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks consistently
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and safety standards
- Willingness to learn new skills across various trades such as framing, roofing, drywall installation, or restoration industry practices
- Reliable transportation to job sites; valid driver’s license is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level candidates
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant coursework or certifications in carpentry or construction trades are beneficial
This position provides valuable on-the-job training in multiple facets of carpentry and construction. Successful candidates will develop practical skills that serve as a stepping stone toward a professional career in the building trades.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.75 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 50 per week
