Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager Recreation & Program Services, the Aquatics Coordinator, Programs will provide support and leadership to the aquatics team through knowledge of aquatic risk management techniques, program knowledge, effective client relations, a comprehensive response to issues as they arise, and resource development to instructional and program services. In addition to a commitment to exceptional customer service and a positive customer experience, the Aquatics Coordinator, Programs must be highly organized, manage time effectively, and complete scheduling tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of aquatic programs and services, ensuring compliance with organizational, provincial, and national standards.
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, schedule, supervise, and evaluate aquatic staff, fostering a high-performing and customer-focused team.
- Manage program administration, including registration, scheduling, cancellations, payroll support, and instructor/lifeguard coverage as required.
- Support staff performance and accountability through ongoing training, performance management, and disciplinary processes in alignment with HR policies.
- Maintain and update aquatic policies, procedures, safety standards, records, and risk management practices.
- Coordinate aquatic bookings, equipment and supply inventory, and leadership program administration.
- Assist with annual budget planning and ensure programs meet revenue and service targets.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to member and guest inquiries with professionalism and diplomacy.
- Support facility operations by acting as Person on Duty, contributing to special projects, and performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required (to be maintained as a condition of employment)
- National Lifeguard & Airway Management - Pool Option (current within two years)
- Intermediate workplace First Aid (formerly SFA)
- Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)
- Swim for Life Instructor (SFL)
- Examiner
- Instructor Trainer or willing to obtain within 1st year
- National Lifeguard & First Aid Instructor or willing to obtain within 1st year
- 3-5 years’ work experience in a senior aquatic role preferred
- Experience in program development and implementation in a busy recreation environment.
- Experience in supervising, Mentoring & Coaching staff

Working Conditions
- Schedule varies based on operational requirements. Requirement to work flexible hours (early morning, day, evening, and weekends) including overtime and on call.
- Expanded hours will be required during peak times such as first week of programs, special events or when required by facility operations and demands
- Working environment includes physical, emotional, and mental demands on infrequent occasion
- Safe lifting, carrying, and rescue techniques (use of a rescue aid in the water and coordination of rescue with a second rescuer, when possible, are required by the employer)
- Exposure to loud noises and ability to concentrate in a busy environment

Compensation
Salary will be based on a range from $42,000 - $60,000 commensurate with education and level of experience.
