Carter Brothers Ltd. is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Arborist Apprentice to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or grow a career in arboriculture. The Arborist Apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced arborists, learning proper tree care techniques while contributing to daily operations. A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and positive attitude are essential.

Duties & Responsibility

• Assist certified arborists with tree pruning, removals, and general tree care operations
• Safely operate power saws and basic tree care equipment under supervision
• Haul brush, logs, and debris from job sites
• Feed and assist with wood chippers in a safe and efficient manner
• Assist in operating grapple trucks and stump grinders as required
• Learn and follow all workplace safety regulations and procedures
• Participate in tree climbing activities when required (an asset)
• Work effectively as part of a team to complete projects efficiently
• Maintain a professional, good-tempered attitude on job sites
• Communicate respectfully with clients and the public

Qualifications & Requirements

• Interest in pursuing a career in arboriculture
• Previous outdoor or labour experience is an asset but not required
• Air brake endorsement on a valid driver’s licence is an asset and will be required as soon as possible after employment
• Willingness to obtain industry training and certifications
• Physically fit and able to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions

• Good communication and public relations skills
• ISA Certification (or willingness to work toward certification) is a strong asset
