Summary

This highly skilled, hybrid role manages the end-to-end production and packaging of architectural panels. The Specialist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC bridge saws for precision cutting (stone, ceramic, plate steel, and ACM), executing the manual fabrication and welding of aluminum components, and constructing custom crates to ensure products arrive safely. The ideal candidate is a master craftsperson capable of transitioning smoothly between digital machine operation, hands-on metalworking, and final product packaging.

Duties and Responsibilities:

CNC Operation & Material Handling

  • Configure, program, and operate CNC bridge saws (Breton and AXYZ) to cut and shape various panel materials accurately.
  • Input or modify CNC programs for cutting patterns, shapes, and sizes.
  • Safely load and unload panels of varying weights, utilizing electronic lift assists for heavy panels when required.
  • Perform regular machine maintenance, routine cleaning, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.

Architectural Fabrication & Assembly

  • Read, interpret, and execute work from complex architectural blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and form aluminum and other metal components using trade-specific machinery (saws, shears, press brakes).
  • Assemble, fit, and weld metal sections and plates to fabricate precision exterior wall panel frames to the highest quality standards.

Crating, Packaging & Quality Control

  • Design and construct robust, custom wooden crates tailored to protect large, fragile, and high-value architectural panels.
  • Operate woodworking tools to build shipping solutions and securely pack finished panels using appropriate bracing and cushioning.
  • Conduct rigorous quality control inspections throughout the cutting, fabrication, and packaging phases to ensure all specifications are met.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, lockout procedures, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in metal fabrication (specifically aluminum/architectural components) and 1–3 years of previous CNC operation experience.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid Forklift Operator License required.
  • Leadership: Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting is preferred.

Knowledge and Training:

  • Expert-level ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Mastery of hand tools, power tools, and machinery across metal fabrication and woodworking.
  • Proficiency in aluminum welding and familiarity with CNC programming/CAD software.
  • Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • High attention to detail and precision in measurements and product quality.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Ability to independently lift up to 60 lbs by hand. Requires standing for long periods, squatting, reaching, and manual dexterity to make fine adjustments to machine tools.
  • Focus: Ability to maintain deep concentration during extended machine operation cycles.
  • Schedule: Full-time permanent position. Occasional extended hours may be required to meet business needs. This position will begin full-time on our day shift and move to a full-time afternoon shift as needed. Candidates MUST be flexible for days and afternoon shifts.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00-$29.00 per hour
