This is an Entry Level Role at Archives New Zealand. Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga sits within the Te Haumi | Enterprise Partnerships branch, the Department’s epicentre of information management, culture and heritage. Our branch is all about collecting, storing and preserving important things that are precious to New Zealand. Archives New Zealand is committed to working effectively with Māori, and upholding mātauranga Māori.
We have a full time, fixed term vacancy for an Archive Support Assistant to work our team until 30 June 2025. This role is primarily focussed on the retrieval and return of archives from the Wellington repository, and requires:
- The ability to set priorities and achieve deadlines
- The ability to work well in a physical environment
- A demonstrated ability to meet the needs of internal and external clients
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion
- Strong organisational skills and a good attention to detail
- The ability to work confidently with digital tools and distribution systems
The duties demand a good level of physical fitness, with the candidate being comfortable working in a warehouse environment and regularly walking between various internal locations. This includes is light to medium lifting, and some work involving heights.
As an Archive Support Assistant you will also be required to assist the team with a variety of tasks, that include office administration and customer facing activities.
