Job Description


As an Area Manager, you are a recognised leader and the regional face of AECOM to the local market. In this role you will represent the AECOM brand, lead the development and implementation of the regional strategy, provide business leadership, and operational management of the AECOM business. The role will look to sell the full AECOM offer in conjunction with Business Line Leaders, fully support local must win pursuits and develop and maintain key relationships with local industry leaders and external AECOM partners.

In this leadership role, you will combine client relationship expertise, people management skills, business skills, commercial acumen and technical knowledge, whilst balancing risk (including health and safety) and opportunities to deliver a profitable and growing business valued by our employees and client alike.

Client Engagement:

  • Position the AECOM brand in the local market and strengthen and grow key client relationships.
  • Identify and develop new service offerings, and ensure the business is responsive and sensitive to market conditions and client expectations.
  • Drive strategic capture efforts in collaboration with business line, market sector, local and regional leadership.

Team Leadership:

  • Work with the Regional Managing Director, Operations Director, Group Directors, Sector Leaders and other senior professionals to develop and implement the NZ strategic plan for the region.
  • Strong leadership skills including technical leadership, human relations, team building, innovation and motivation skills.
  • Create and maintain a high-performance culture and business environment, with the organisational structure and resources to support this.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years proven experience in a managerial or leadership role, preferably in an engineering or service-oriented environment.
  • A passion for building teams and nurturing talent, with a track record of fostering positive workplace cultures.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to develop a strong client base
  • Solid business development skills and the ability to build strong client relationships
