REGULAR HOURS OF WORK: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm M – F (may be required to work a flexible schedule)
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent
DEPARTMENT: Early Intervention and Forest Rose School
SPECIFICATIONS:
As an employee of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the job incumbent shall comply with all Board policies at all times, and shall demonstrate respect for, support dignity of, and observe the rights of all individuals served by the agency. Job incumbent will clarify to all stakeholders that the Fairfield DD vision is to support people on their journey toward independence.

Duties

75% Administrative and Supervisory
Oversees all aspects of children’s programs (including Early Intervention, Preschool and School-Age).

Makes recommendations regarding employment, discipline, dismissal and promotions to the Assistant Superintendent of assigned staff. Supervises and coaches staff on methods, techniques and development. Identifies staff development needs and conducts or otherwise provides for staff development programs for the purpose of imparting knowledge or improving the skills of the school staff.

Develops and recommends to the Assistant Superintendent policies and procedures for assigned areas. Ensures policies and procedures are implemented consistently to assure consistency in service delivery and administrative activity.

Confers with staff concerning the planning, development and implementation of program practices; the assignment of staff; and scheduling of supporting programs. Serves as IEP/IFSP team member when requested and may serve as chairperson of those teams.

Works cooperatively with the bargaining unit to establish positive working relationships. May serve as part of the management team involved in collective bargaining negotiations representing the Board in accordance with ORC 4117.

Develops, implements and monitors program budgets with the assistance of the program supervisors and the fiscal office; determines needs and recommends purchase of necessary supplies and equipment. Approves purchases of supplies, materials and equipment necessary for the total operation of the programs within budgetary limits and in accordance of Board policies and departmental rules and regulations.

Assumes lead role in assuring that safety and health standards are met for students and employees.

Attends Board meetings and any other meetings when requested by the Assistant Superintendent.

Understands and practices professional ethics in keeping with the confidentiality of information and materials.

Provides leadership in the development of philosophy and mission for children’s programs. Assumes leadership in long and short-term planning. In conjunction with program supervisors, determines needs of the community, develops services and funding resources to meet those needs, implements services and evaluates effectiveness. Works cooperatively and pro-actively with the Assistant Superintendent, other Board Directors and staff, parents/guardians and community at local and state level in planning to continue to meet the needs of children with developmental disabilities.
Participates, at level required, in grants, state reports, grant reports and other reports as requested.

20% Community Relations Actively promotes good public relations with parents, advocates, community organizations, professionals, other school districts, Job and Family Services, health department and other county board staff.

Provides consultative and technical assistance to parents, school districts and other agencies regarding eligibility requirements and procedures.

Serves as a liaison between the Board, Job and Family Services, Ohio Department of Education, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, families, providers, school districts and other agencies.

Assures compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations including but not limited to Help Me Grow, preschool licensure, school-aged placement procedures, staff certification and in-service requirements.

4% Training Provides presentations and information concerning the Board and children’s programs in accordance with Board philosophy and mission. May be asked to provide/participate in activities internal and external to the agency. Participates in and provides in-service training as may be required for staff and parents/guardians.

1% Other Maintains confidentiality of records, information and program matters.

As necessary, complies with Safety Rules established for the purpose of fulfilling compliance with Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards, Rules or Orders, through the utilization of protective equipment and decontamination techniques.

Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in education or related field
  • Minimum of three years’ experience interacting with early intervention, school and ancillary staff working with children with developmental disabilities.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience
  • Eligible for required state certification from DODD.
  • Knowledge of a variety of individual assessment tools.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s license with fewer than 6 points and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier.
  • May be requested to work abnormal hours based on service needs.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in: verbal and written presentation, organization, time management, interviewing, handling sensitive and confidential information, public relations and personal intercommunications and computer programs.
  • May use personal vehicle to transport clients and families.
