River Park provides acute inpatient services to children, adolescents, adults and seniors and features a 22-bed residential treatment program for children and adolescents and a 25-bed adult forensic unit. Job Title: Associate Director of Nursing, RN

Join our dynamic healthcare team and make a meaningful impact on patient care and staff development! Work closely with clinical administration to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory and State requirements. Lead performance improvement activities within nursing departments and contribute to hospital-wide initiatives. Mentor and support RNs, LPNs, MHTs, and other clinical staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Provide coverage as a nursing supervisor or staff nurse when needed, demonstrating flexibility and leadership. Coordinate staff education functions to ensure continuous professional development and excellence in patient care. Summary of Core Job Functions: Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Associate Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for developing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing care and practice within the psychiatric nursing division. Serves as a resource person, guides, counsels, and instructs professional and ancillary nursing personnel.

Essential Core Functions:

  • Nurse/Patient Relationship: Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Participates in formulating, implementing, and evaluating hospital, departmental and program objectives, standards, policies and procedures.

« Assuring / Improving Quality Care: Facilitates the patient and family’s right to receive safe, quality and cost-effective care. Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care and information. Provides supervision and coverage in the absence of a nurse manager.

  • Patient/Staff Education: Demonstrates a commitment to meeting the learning needs of patients, families, and Staff. Utilizes appropriate resources to meet those needs and achieve positive patient or Staff outcomes. Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers and colleagues.
  • Nursing Process: Demonstrates the use of nursing process as a problem-solving model. Demonstrates a mastery of clinical skills related to patient’s mental health and physical health needs. Works closely with the CNO and nursing managers to facilitate nursing and educational services.

Job Specifications:

Education, Certification/Licensure, and/or Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's Degree (BSN)
  • Valid and unencumbered West Virginia RN license.
  • Prefer a minimum of one (1) year nursing supervisory experience including a minimum of six (6) months in a mental health setting or related professional setting.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse preferred.
  • Current certification in CPR
  • Assistant Director of Nursing experience preferred.
