Tailor Your Resume for this Job

The Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering at Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track professor position in Digital Integrated Circuits and Systems Design. The position may be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
We are looking for highly qualified academic candidates in the broad area of digital integrated circuit and system design. Relevant research focus areas include, but are not limited to, hardware accelerators for machine learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), neuromorphic computing, and digital signal processing; microprocessor technologies; hardware systems for signal processing; novel computer architecture implementations; Compute-in-Memory circuits, and digital system-on-chips (SoC) implementations. Demonstrated experience in digital systems (potentially including mixed-signal components) is considered highly desirable. We particularly value candidates with a record of high-impact publications in top-tier venues that are underpinned by silicon measurement results.
As a faculty member, you will complement and strengthen the department's existing expertise in integrated circuit design, which currently emphasises microwave engineering, analog, digital, mixed-signal circuits, and sensor interface electronics, by contributing fresh and bold new research ideas and perspectives. This position provides you with an excellent opportunity to conduct state-of-the-art, hands-on IC design research supported by modern technologies and excellent infrastructure, including IC measurement facilities spanning frequencies from DC to THz.

The successful candidate is expected to build a strong research area and is expected to address key challenges in advanced digital IC and systems design, such as energy and power efficiency, design methodologies that support long-term scalability, or other innovative approaches that contribute to sustainable evolution of ubiquitous and intelligent computing platforms.
Your experience and ambitions
We seek applicants with:
  • A doctoral degree in integrated circuit design or a closely related field, with high desirability of demonstrated tape-out and chip measurement experience in digital or mixed-signal circuits.
  • Demonstrated potential to carry out high-quality research and raise research funding.
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and expand a strong international contact network
  • Motivation to teach and develop teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
  • Fluent command of both written and spoken English
  • Familiarity with modern semiconductor technologies, design-flows, and their applications will be considered an advantage
Scientific environment
You will join the
Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering
at Aalto University
School of Electrical Engineering
. The department’s research areas include integrated circuit design, microwave engineering, electromagnetics, space science and technology as well as photonics and nanotechnology. Our researchers in IC design work with sensor interface electronics, energy harvesters, RF/MM/analogue/DSP ICs for wireless, radars, antennas, and related electronics. In these fields, our researchers work in close collaboration with several national and international leading research institutes and companies.
The department offers excellent measurement facilities with a wide variety of state-of-the-art measurement equipment including DSP and DC analysers, THz network analysers, and anechoic chambers. The department also has cutting-edge design tools, including comprehensive IC technology design kits, EM simulators, and DSP design tools.
There are excellent opportunities to establish impactful collaboration with industry, and the nearby Department of Information and Communications Engineering also provides outstanding opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaboration.
