Assistant Orchard Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Orchard Manager to join our dynamic team at Avonsleigh Kiwifruit, a leading provider of high-quality kiwifruit and male Kiwifruit pollen. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day management and operations of our orchard located in Avonsleigh, VIC 3782.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting the Orchard Manager in the planning, implementation and coordination of all orchard activities, including, pruning, spraying, harvesting and other horticultural tasks

• Monitoring crop health, identifying and addressing any issues or concerns to ensure optimal fruit quality and yield

• Supervising and training a team of orchard workers to maintain high standards of productivity and efficiency

• Implementing and enforcing safety protocols to protect the wellbeing of all personnel• Collaborating with the Orchard Manager to develop and execute strategic plans for the continuous improvement of orchard operations

• Maintaining detailed records and providing regular progress reports to the management team

What we're looking for

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in orchard management or a similar role within the farming, agriculture or horticulture industry

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think critically and adapt to changing conditions

• Effective leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate a team

• Proficient in the use of farm machinery, equipment and technology• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders

• A valid driver's license and the ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
