Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Principal for Special Education to join our educational team. This role provides leadership for professional staff and involves oversight of the day-to-day operations and instruction, development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring compliance with educational regulations, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in special education, childhood development, and effective communication skills to collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, plan, and organize the day-to-day operations, educational services, and daily activities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students with special needs, and attend and facilitate IEP meetings ensuring compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum standards and instructional strategies and visit classrooms to monitor and support instruction.
  • Supervise and collaborate with teachers and staff to create a supportive classroom environment that promotes learning for all students.
  • Assist in assuring necessary staffing, as well as availability of instructional materials and resources for students. Monitor and assist in staffing needs.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust educational plans as necessary. Prepare necessary data and reports.
  • Provide training and support to teachers on best practices in special education and conflict management. Investigate and resolve any student and staff issues.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Facilitate meetings with educators, parents, and specialists to discuss student needs and strategies for improvement.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in special education, literacy education, and childhood development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Special Education or PA Supervisory certification in Special Education, and a valid PA Administration certification or meet the criteria and current enrollment in a university program that grants the Administrative Intern Certificate

Experience

  • Proven experience providing leadership in curriculum development and instruction.
  • Proven experience working with students in a classroom setting, particularly in special education or private school environments.
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and literacy education strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in conflict management to address challenges that may arise within the educational setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
