ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION (ACCOUNTING; TENURE TRACK)
We are now looking for an Assistant Professor in accounting to strengthen our faculty team in the Department of Accounting & Business Law at Aalto University School of Business. In this role you will have a chance to make an impact by designing and leading high-quality research projects, by empowering students to explore their potential, as well as fostering a thriving accounting research and education community at the university. Job description and our expectations
Applications from all fields of accounting are considered, but the preference will be given to candidates focusing on management accounting. Only Assistant Professor candidates are considered for this call. The main tasks include high-quality research in the field of accounting as well as teaching responsibility for two courses and a Bachelor’s/Master’s thesis seminar within the field. We welcome diverse focus areas and research methodologies within management accounting, and we especially appreciate candidates whose expertise fits our existing faculty profiles.
A successful candidate for this position should have capacity to publish in top journals and become an excellent teacher. In addition, we expect readiness to apply for external research funding. Employment duties need to be performed in Finland. Fluent command of English is also required, which is the teaching language for the master’s and doctoral level courses in accounting at Aalto University. Applicants must possess a PhD in accounting (or they must have completed their doctoral degree before the position's starting date).
The assistant professor selected for the position is expected to conduct and supervise scientific research, provide high-quality academic teaching, keep up with developments in their field, participate in the administration of the Aalto University community, and engage in societal interaction and international cooperation within their field. Evaluation at the Assistant Professor level to Associate Professor level follows the
tenure track system of Aalto University
and is based on merits related to research, teaching and societal impact & service.

The Accounting faculty is strongly dedicated to research, as shown by a stream of research published in top accounting journals. Teaching assignments encompass undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs. The Department runs research seminars and is closely connected to major Finnish firms and organizations. About recruitment process
Only applications submitted through Workday will be considered. We will start the evaluation process in the end of November 2025 after the application period has expired.
From the applicants in the first phase, Aalto University will select candidates to continue in the process. Shortlisted applicants are invited for a site visit. A site visit includes a teaching demonstration and an interview. Site visits will be held in January-February 2026.
