SUMMARY:
Under general supervision from the Department Chair, Nursing, the incumbent teaches courses as scheduled, cultivates a healthy teacher-student relationship, and engages the students in active learning. The incumbent will make recommendations regarding curriculum changes, text selection, and content revision. The faculty will supervise students in the clinical area and simulation labs.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
Master’s degree in nursing. Candidate must show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility. Must meet accrediting body criteria to teach in Associate Degree Nursing Program.
PREFERRED:
Nursing education experience preferred.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES:
Registered Nurse with current Texas license with no stipulations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will:

- Evidence timely completion of administrative aspects of instructional responsibilities.
- Participate in evaluation, recommendation, development, and/or revision of department instruction/curriculum.

- Collaborate with nursing faculty to identify at risk students early in order to facilitate timely interventions and work together to develop strategies for improved student learning.
- Providing personalized academic guidance, study skills development, and targeted tutoring for students struggling with course material.
- Participates in new student orientation, as applicable.
- Coordinates and/or conducts individual and group study sessions/workshops
- Makes referrals for academic support services including the Writing Center, Math tutorial Lab, or for accommodations. Makes referrals to Financial Aid and the Circle of Support for non-academic barriers to success.
- Tracking student progress, identifying trends, and using data to inform program improvements aimed at increasing student success.
- Attends departmental and committee meetings and supports the faculty in developing departmental policies regarding student success.
- Providing resources and guidance to help students prepare for the NCLEX licensing exam.
- Implementing strategies to encourage student engagement, foster a positive learning environment, and address potential barriers to graduation.
- Perform job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Primarily moderate activity is required with frequent standing, walking and may include lifting, pushing, pulling of objects up to 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment. May be exposed to various types of gases, chemicals or pathogens.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Working hours are based upon contract length and departmental demands established by the department chair as outlined in the Temple College Policy Manual.
This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.

ANNUAL AND SICK LEAVE ACCRUALS- ANNUAL LEAVE ACCRUALS:
- Years of Service: 0 through 5
- Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Month) = 8
- Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Year) = 96
- Years of Service: 6 through 10
- Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Month) =10
- Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Year) =120
- Years of Service: 10 plus years
- Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Month) =12
- Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Year) =144
Annual leave may be accrued up to a limit of 240 hours with special provisions allowing for annual accruals above that limit. Faculty with contracts less than 12 months do not accrue Annual Leave but are provided with 20 hours of personal time per fiscal year.
- SICK LEAVE ACCRUALS:
- HOLIDAYS: Recognized college holidays, in addition to Annual and Sick leave accruals, include Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Martin Luther King Day, Spring Break, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Independence Day.
- PAYROLL: Employees are paid by direct deposit through the last working day of the month. Actual deposits are paid on the last working business day of the month. All benefit deductions are taken at that time.
- RETIREMENT: Temple College is one of the few community colleges in the state of Texas to be permitted Federal Social Security deductions. Temple College is a Section 218 employer.

- Member: Teacher Retirement System (TRS) = 8.0% of annual salary
- Employer: Teacher Retirement System (TRS) = 7.75% of member's annual salary

- Member: Optional Retirement Program (ORP) = 6.65 % of annual salary
- Employer: Optional Retirement Program (ORP) = 6.6% of annual salary
- MISCELLANEOUS LEAVE: Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), Jury Duty, Bereavement, Deteriorating weather, and Military training.
- WORKERS COMPENSATION: If an employee is injured on the job, Temple College, through its Worker Compensation Program, pays all authorized hospital, nursing, and physician's fees. Additional benefits may be available.
