MOSAICS Public School Kitchen Manager Job Description

MOSAICS Public School is looking for a dedicated individual with the skills, passion and commitment to help us continue the superior quality of food provided for our students and staff. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with school food service and be willing to learn and take over the Nutrition Manager role in December of the 2026-2027 school year. This position will involve customer service, dedication to our mission, desire to work efficiently and interact with our teachers and students.

Position Title: Assistant Kitchen Manager

Reports to: Nutrition Program Manager & Executive Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Learn record keeping and daily log of number of meals served

● Assist in maintaining School’s Meal Charge Policy, including proper notices to families

● Learn processes ensuring that correct prices are charged for food and/or meals; making accurate changes and accounting for all fees/monies collected daily

● Become self sufficient in completing daily USDA required paperwork including but not limited to: a) FS-4’s for all programs, and program documentation b) NIS student lists c) Daily Deposit Record and Ticket d) Cash Transaction Log with Receipts e) Refund/Transfers and Requests

● Accept responsibility for keeping an accurate roster of students participating in the NSLP lunch program, Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch Programs

● Ensure students have been served all the essential meal components of a reimbursable school lunch or breakfast as required by the FDA

● Operate and master point of sale software/terminal and required reports

● Prepare food items as required, overseeing kitchen setting up and cleaning during serving hours

● Ensure sanitizing processes are followed and equipment is maintained properly

● Maintain good customer service with students, parents, faculty, colleagues and the community

● Help ensure that all kitchen tasks follow the District, State Dept. of Ed., and USDA standards

● Assist in maintaining a daily log of time, temperature and amount of food prepared

● Ensure that recipe and production records are properly maintained

● Attend all required training and obtain Serv Safe Certification

● Supports the philosophy and mission of MOSAICS Public School and the Child Nutrition Department

Required:

● Serv-Safe Certified

● High School diploma or GED

● Detail oriented/self motivated/independent worker

● Ability to learn and master online software and reporting

● Can work well with students and staff

● Self-motivated

Preferred:

● Nutrition services experience, especially in a school setting

● SNA Certification Level 1, meets USDA Required Professional Standards

Pay: $20.00 - $23.20 per hour
