It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in ICS and J-ESR field testing.
  • Reporting of Japanese Solvency Margin Ratio.
  • Reporting of J-ESR.
  • Conduct stress testing and analysis on insurance portfolios.
  • Drive business planning for insurance portfolios with focus on future sustainability of the portfolio from solvency, profitability and liquidity risk perspective.
  • Regular valuation of the portfolio including assessment of reserves adequacy and preparation/submission of regulatory and internal solvency reports and statistics.
  • Conduct experience analysis of the portfolio and set non-economic assumptions.
  • Perform monthly analysis of profit/analysis of solvency movements of the portfolio and reforecast of profitability to track performance.

  • Accountable for a team of 4 members.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of actuarial experience in life and health valuation.
  • Strong knowledge/experience of Singapore Risk Based Capital 2. Experience in ICS is an advantage.
  • Having leadership experience is an advantage.
  • Self-driven and able to motivate team members to deliver projects on a timely basis.
  • Great teamwork and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including Finance, Product and Distribution, regulators and group office.

Education

  • Academic: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Actuarial Science.
  • Professional Certification(s): Qualified Actuary (preferred)
