Associate Attorney – Intellectual Property Law Firm – Dispute Resolution (primary) /Transactional (secondary)
Position Overview:
Fargo Patent & Business Law, PLLC is an intellectual property focused law firm. The firm works with innovative companies to help develop great ideas. We provide both intellectual property and business law services. Intellectual property services include patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Desired Outcomes
· Assist lead attorney in completing projects
· Complete projects and provide high quality work
· Effectively communicate with vendors, clients, and firm members
· Maintain calendars and ensure deadlines are not missed
Responsibilities:
Dispute Resolution work to include
- Reviewing and Understanding client goals in light of their business
- Communicating with clients and team members
- Timely addressing client needs
- Prelitigation work
- Litigation work
- Filing and responding to complaints in state and federal court
- Subject matters to generally include: trademark, copyright, patent, trade secret, ownership disputes, contract disputes, and securities disputes.
Transactional work to include:
- Contract Drafting
- Contract Negotiation
- Trademark Filings
- Copyright Filings
- Entity documentation
- Entity filings
General Expectations:
- Understand and empathize with clients
- Ascertain and locate needed information as required
- Follow firm standards, guidelines, and systems
- Maintain deadlines and important schedules
- Proof read documentation
- Assist in preparing marketing documentation as requested by the firm
- Organize and document attorney work
- Attend training as required to maintain industry proficiency
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- An interest in intellectual property is required
- Licensed in North Dakota and North Dakota preferred
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong working knowledge of a CRM
- Ability to lift 40 pounds or more
- Signed confidentiality agreements

Hours:
Base of 40 hours per pay week.
Compensation:
Base of $4,000 per month plus performance incentives. Target compensation of $65,800 - 91,600 year 1 and $110,400 - $134,400 year 2. High performance will result in increases.
