About the Role
An opportunity exists for an experienced haemodialysis nurses to join the renal service senior nurse team as an Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM).
Position available is 0.8 FTE, rostered and rotating (excluding night shift), working across the dialysis units on a day to day rotational basis.
As an ACNM your focus is to support and work collaboratively with the existing ACNMs in the day to day management of the hospital and two satellite dialysis units (people, process, and physical resources), and in the implementation of service and organisational initiatives, to ensure the delivery of safe patient care. Working across the Wellington hospital unit and satellite dialysis units at Kenepuru and Lower Hutt, you will work closely with the dialysis nursing team, renal service senior nurses, medical staff, MDT, and other health professionals to manage and support patient care.
Your experience in nursing at a senior level as well as evidence of displaying leadership qualities will be essential. You will be providing clinical leadership and professional development opportunities to the team, ensuring increased levels of safe and competent nursing practise.
- The ACNM role includes the following responsibilities:
- Daily management of the dialysis units - staff and resources
- Oversight of patient care
- Management of patient treatment schedules
- Coordination of staff roster
- Involvement in staff recruitment
- Involvement in staff performance management
- Quality initiatives, policy and protocol development, reportable event reviews
- You will be supported by committed ACNM colleagues and the Service Leader.
About the Team/Service/ Location
We maintain a strong nurse led focus to patient care with the nursing team working across the three dialysis units on a day to day rotational basis. This provides a mix of outpatient and inpatient, acute and chronic haemodialysis patient care. We work in close collaboration with the renal medical team.

About you
You will be an action oriented person who pushes towards the delivery of the highest quality care for the patient/client/whanau and someone who is proactive in advocating for professional and organisational initiatives.
Essential attributes for this position are nursing leadership skills, adaptability, a passion for nursing clinical excellence, enthusiasm, and ability to work in an autonomous role.
The following experience and professional requirements are needed for this role:
- Must have current NZ registration
- Must have current annual practising certificate
- Minimum 2 years haemodialysis experience
- Previous experience in a leadership role beneficial
- Relevant post-graduate qualification or working towards this
- Be able to travel to Wellington, Kenepuru and Hutt Valley
