You and your job
You are the forefront of contributing to Rabobank’s originate-to-distribute strategy, and you will be able to enjoy a dynamic working environment. You will be part of the broader Portfolio Distribution team of 19 colleagues, where the strategic distribution agenda of the bank is centralised, whilst at the same time experiencing the start-up atmosphere of Vista Hypotheken. Portfolio Distribution consists of the sub-teams Structuring, Structured Asset Administration & Reporting (STAR) and Rabo Fund Management (RFM). Over the last years, RFM has grown into a successful investor platform managing the interest of investors in Vista Hypotheken and has become a material player in the Dutch mortgage market, with a strong ambition to grow and remain a frontrunner in sustainability.
As a Portfolio Manager, you will work together with the other portfolio managers to manage the mortgage investment portfolios of institutional investors (e.g. pension funds and insurance companies) and to bring our fund proposition to the next level. Next to regular fund management activities, you will be responsible for RFM’s ESG agenda towards both investors and Vista. This includes formalising the ESG strategy on a continuous basis, together with Vista and investors work out the ESG product proposition, further develop ESG reporting and safeguard ESG adherence (e.g. UN PRI, SFDR). This role will provide you with the perfect opportunity to learn the dynamics of fund management on behalf of external investors and further develop in the field of ESG.
Practical Examples
- Contributing to commercial activities of our investment offerings, including pitches to new prospects throughout Europe to a variety of financial institutions
- Working with portfolio managers to further professionalize our platform
- Being a sparring partner for our investors and translating their constraints into investment plans and formulating (pricing) strategies towards Vista
- Analysing existing investors' portfolios, including communicating developments to investors in periodic investor meetings
- Staying on top of developments in capital markets, ESG trends and regulations
- Further develop the ESG framework in line with RFM’s ESG ambition as stated in RFM’s Responsible Investment Policy

With you as an (Associate) Director Portfolio Manager, the entire Corporate Development-team (of which Portfolio Distribution is part of) consists of around 60 dedicated colleagues. The Corporate Development department is part of the CFO domain and its goal is to formulate the bank’s strategy, create room for future growth by optimizing Rabobank's balance sheet, executing M&A and asset portfolio transactions in all regions, and offering fund management solutions for institutional investors.
The Corporate Development department consists of four pillars: Portfolio Distribution (PD), Portfolio Management (PM), Corporate Strategy and Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions (CM&A).
You and your talent
If you are interested, it is important that you recognise some of the following:
- Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or similar
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience
- Living and working in the Netherlands (for work-permit reasons / this is a prerequisite)
- You are a team player that enjoys working together in a fast pace and international environment
- Experience in the field of mortgages, fund management, ESG and/or Fixed Income is preferred
- Outstanding communication skills and able to give pitches to clients
- Solid analytical capabilities and a fast learner
- Strong networking and relationship building skills
- Fluent in English and Dutch (or willingness to learn Dutch)
