The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.
Key Responsibilities
Management of Cash accounts
- Ensure sufficient liquidity for daily trade settlement.
- Oversee daily operation payment.
- Oversee revenue collection from accounts receivables.
Management of Investment Accounts which includes:
- Reconcile trade postings, billing and receipting of trailer revenue and bank balances.
- Oversee posting of business accruals and expenses.
Special Projects
- Oversee design and development of financial accounting hub for new trading platform.
- Review design of financial accounting hub and test results.
- Design new accounting and operational processes to support development of new platform.
- Provide support to Team Lead with regular management reporting.
Corporate taxes and statutory reporting
- Lead filing of corporate tax, GST filings and statutory reporting.
- Lead and facilitate internal and financial statement audits.
Mentoring
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
- Supervise junior team members to ensure performance and quality of work.
Requirements
- Minimally 5 to 6 years of experience in accounting, business administration or finance functions .
- Relevant education qualification such as a degree or diploma in accounting or finance, or any equivalent qualification.
- A good attitude towards acquiring new knowledge and self-improvement.
- An interest in financial advisory industry and investing.
