About the Role:

Join our vibrant community at the Curtin Centre for Aboriginal Studies (CAS) as we welcome applications for a permanent full-time Associate Lecturer position!

We are seeking an Associate Lecturer to teach in the CAS Bachelor of Allied Science Course, specifically in the Indigenous Community Management & Development units and Mental Health Principles and Practices. In this role, you will teach across several units, imparting Indigenous cultural knowledge/s and understandings to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. For example, you will cover topics such as Indigenous Cultures and Health Behaviours, as well as Business and Science.

Your responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and student support.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and innovation in teaching.
  • Identify and address student learning needs.
  • Integrate research into teaching practices.
  • Conduct engaging learning activities in various formats.
  • Participate in outreach and community engagement.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and innovation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues for cohesive course delivery.
Who we are looking for:
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively as well as a commitment to reflective improvement in teaching delivery.
  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to contribute to scholarship in teaching through participation in teaching and learning strategies and in professional development in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum review and renewal.
  • Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
Desirable
  • Progress towards a doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (or equivalent in relevant discipline).
