About the Role:
Curtin University is seeking an Associate Lecturer/Lecturer (Teaching Academic) in the School of Nursing to support delivery of an enhanced mental health stream within the new Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced), contributing to the development of a skilled and adaptable nursing workforce. We are particularly interested in candidates with mental health nursing experience, supported by a comprehensive clinical background enabling contribution across a broad range of nursing practice areas.
The role involves delivering high-quality, student-centred learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programs using a range of teaching methods, including online, distributed and face-to-face delivery. You will contribute to curriculum development and renewal, support student learning, and integrate contemporary practice, research and scholarship into teaching.
As an Associate Lecturer, you will work under the guidance of senior staff to develop your teaching and scholarly capability, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation in learning and teaching. While an ALB Lecturer will demonstrate a growing profile in teaching and scholarship, with the capacity to coordinate units, support other staff, and contribute to service and leadership within the discipline.
This is a full time, permanent position, with a salary range between $83,371 - $140,147 pro rata (ALA/ALB), plus 17% superannuation and generous leave entitlements. Job share or part time working arrangements (0.6 minimum) can be negotiated for the right candidate/s.
Who we are looking for (selection criteria):
- Current registration with AHPRA.
- Progress towards a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline; a completed doctoral qualification is required for appointment at Lecturer (ALB) level (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional roles).
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively, with a commitment to reflective improvement in teaching delivery; ALB applicants will demonstrate high-level teaching skills and consistent evidence of effective teaching practice.
- An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline; ALB applicants will demonstrate a strong and applied understanding of pedagogy in practice.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to contribute to scholarship in teaching, including participation in teaching and learning initiatives and professional development; ALB applicants will demonstrate an emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum review and renewal; ALB applicants will demonstrate experience and/or capacity to undertake unit coordination.
- Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with a commitment to fostering a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to engage effectively with students and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the role.
