Role Overview

As an Associate Legal Counsel, you’ll be a core member of our Legal team, driving strategic initiatives across product development, regulatory compliance, and business operations. You’ll serve as the primary legal point of contact for payment-related matters and will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Tech, Strategy, Marketing, Compliance, and other business stakeholders. Your role will involve providing strategic legal advice, fostering innovation, and ensuring regulatory compliance across Satispay’s diverse offerings.

Your mission:

• Strategic advisory. Play the role of strategic product counsel throughout the lifecycle of new product and feature development, from ideation to market launch, ensuring alignment with Satispay’s goals and regulatory compliance.

• Cross-team collaboration. Partner with business teams to create groundbreaking services by developing innovative legal solutions that balance business needs with risk management.

• Legal drafting and negotiation. Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including partnerships, vendor contracts, terms of service and other customer-facing documentation.

• Regulatory compliance support. Work closely with the Compliance department to ensure products and services align with applicable financial regulations, including those related to e-money, MiFID services, or similar frameworks. Assist in managing relationships with regulatory authorities.

• Horizon scanning. Proactively monitor regulatory developments and emerging trends, assessing their implications for the business and ensuring timely adaptation to maintain compliance and support strategic objectives.

Your ideal profile:

• Background. You are a qualified lawyer with a strong background in reputable law firms and at least 5 years of experience in advising fintechs on financial regulations and payment products. You are used to working in tech innovation applied to e-money, MiFID services or similar regulatory frameworks.

• Strategic and risk-based approach. You are able to take smart risks and provide strategic advice as well as align regulatory requirements with business objectives.

• Product counseling. You are able to immerse into the tech/product aspects with a high level of curiosity and are willing to find out-of-the-box customer-facing features as well as balance legal risks.

• Contract negotiation. You are skilled in drafting and negotiating complex agreements with regulatory considerations.

• Sound judgment. You are confident in making sound decisions even in situations of ambiguity or with incomplete information.

• Communication skills. You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively advise and influence senior management and engage a variety of stakeholders.

• Adaptability. You excel in dynamic, fast-paced environments, demonstrating the ability to quickly adjust to shifting challenges and priorities.

• Language proficiency. You are fluent in English; knowledge of Italian is a plus.
