Authorization Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Authorization Specialist to join our medical billing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for obtaining prior authorizations, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring timely approvals for patient services. This role is critical to optimizing the revenue cycle and providing exceptional support to patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
  • Obtain and track prior authorizations for medical procedures, medications, and treatments.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve authorization issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all authorization processes and communications.
  • Follow up on pending authorizations and ensure timely submission of required documents.
  • Collaborate with billing and coding teams to address denials related to authorizations.
  • Stay updated on insurance policies, guidelines, and industry trends.

QualificationsRequired:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum [X years] of experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or authorization processing.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD codes, and insurance processes.
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software and systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred:

  • Certification in medical billing/coding or healthcare administration.
  • Familiarity with [specific software, e.g., Epic, Kareo, etc.].
  • Previous experience working in a [specific healthcare environment, e.g., specialty clinics, hospitals, etc.].
