Aviation Security Officer - Load Assistant

The Aviation Security Service currently has fixed term part time opportunities available for Load Assistants based at Christchurch Airport with full training provided – no experience required!

As a Load Assistant you will be responsible for greeting passengers and preparing them for pre-flight screening at Christchurch Airport’s International and Domestic screening points. We have multiple 5 month fixed term positions available from mid April 2025. For these roles, we are requiring a workforce that is available for 6.5 hour shifts from 4am to 6pm, across 7 days a week. You will be working a 6 days on/3 days off roster including days, nights, weekends and public holidays. As the role is due to begin mid April, we will be prioritising candidates that are available immediately.

When you join us as a Load Assistant, you will be provided with a uniform, 5 days of paid comprehensive training before you start, ongoing support, and a competitive salary of $55,327 (pro rata) per annum, which roughly equates to an hourly rate of $26.47.

We are looking for people who want to contribute to keeping the skies of Aotearoa New Zealand safe and secure. To be successful in this role, you should be able to engage with a broad range of people, keep calm when things get busy, and have clear verbal communication skills. Ideally, you will have prior customer service experience, but this is not essential.
