Company Profile: Fairgreen Sod Farms is owned and operated by Cam Fairty, and family. The family run business began with a 350-acre farm at Steeles Avenue and Markham Road in Markham, Ontario. This year, Fairgreen will be farming over 2500 acres of land, on over 40 different farms in the Markham, Zephyr, Virginia, Beaverton, Brechin, Oro, and Coldwater areas.

Products sold include sod, soil, mulch, fertilizer, seed, aggregates.

We sell to homeowners, landscapers, and retail stores. Our drivers deliver products within the GTA region, mainly between Mississauga and Bowmanville.

Job Title: AZ Truck Driver - Manual

Job Summary: Delivers products to homeowners and businesses in the GTA. Transports products to and from various locations within southern Ontario. Hauls grain from fields to elevators.

Education and Experience: Valid AZ license with a clean abstract. Forklift license preferred. Must be able to drive manual.

Duties:
To deliver products to our customers throughout the GTA with a truck mounted forklift. Drivers are expected to perform daily maintenance on their equipment, including complete circle checks, filling out paperwork, replacing lights as needed and greasing equipment on a regular basis. They will also be required to maintain a clean and organized truck. Other duties may be assigned based on business demands, such as preparing bags of soil for customer orders. You must also be able to use digital technology to record deliveries completed, clock in and out, and report required maintenance to the mechanics.

Skills:
The successful candidate must be able to drive a manual truck and to read, write and speak English competently. The ability to effectively communicate with the office and customers over the phone is a requirement. They must also be able to effectively navigate all areas of the GTA. Capable of lifting up to 60 lbs.

Pay Rate:
$29 +/hour depending on skills/experience
Employee Benefits are available for fulltime employees.

Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday (Saturday's are usually half days)
We are a seasonal business (April to December) which require longer hours during our busy season April to June (12hrs/day).
Due to the nature of the business, a flexible work schedule is customary.

Job Start and End Dates: Immediately – December (possibly longer)

Specific requirements:
CSA approved footwear is required as well has high visibility clothing that is appropriate for the weather; we work in all weather conditions. It is also necessary to have a cell phone to communicate with the office when issues and modified instructions arise.

Other: Drivers will start their shifts either at our main yard, located on Hwy. 48 just north of Major Mackenzie, or at one of our farms throughout the Zephyr, Pefferlaw or Beaverton areas depending on where sod or grain is being harvested.
